Since we had scattered clouds on Saturday afternoon, we decided it was a great time to go for a small walk at the Whitman Mission. On our way to the mission we saw our friend flying above so decided to briefly stop by Martin Airfield to see him land. It turns out he was giving his family free rides and he invited us for a short flight since he had a couple empty seats. Since there is no point to turn off the engine between flights, we boarded the airplane with the strong wind coming off the propeller. That alone scared Ben to a whole new level as he held Traci and I close to him. He did fine once we took off and later enjoyed looking out the window. The view was amazing up there with the airplane flying above the thin layer of haze that had settled in the valley. Unfortunately I had a 100mm lens on my camera and I didn't take any pictures. However, it was Ben's first time flying and that's exciting.
The following day the fog began rolling in thick at around 4pm. We were all in the car running errands when we thought it would be far more to fun to see the sunset above the clouds. Since we have friends that live just up the foothills we decided to go see the sunset and we were not disappointed. The clouds literally formed a thick soft carpet above the valley. It was close to 70 degrees up there and in the mid 30's down in the valley. Simply Amazing! It just goes to show that the best things in life are free.
