The Best Job.

Yesterday Ben began to not feel well. He was melancholy for the most part of the day and eventually threw up 3 times in the afternoon. It caught me off guard since he has never thrown up and that's given that he is 18 months now. Actually by the look on his face, he was quite startled and confused of what was happening. Last night we had another small accident at 2:30 a.m. yet I had a terrible time winding down after cleaning up, changing the bed sheets and helping Traci calm him down.

This morning he woke up feeling better yet his nose is still running like a broken faucet. As for me, I'm exhausted. It hurts to be awake from sleeping only 4 hours. I tried taking a nap with him this morning and once again I laid there unable to shut my mind. After laying there for a while I looked at the time, the phone said 11:03 and soon after I began to doze off. It wasn't long before I heard, "Daddy, Daddy! Up!" as he pulled on my hand. I picked up the phone to see the time and it was 11:14, I had only slept about 9 minutes, so I got up to begin attending to his needs. As I staggered to get up I was reminded of the song "That's my Job" by Conway Twitty. There's a part in the song that says, "That's my job, that's what I'll do. Everything I do, is because of you. To keep you safe with me."
