Pretty Good Memories

It seems that life just gets busier the older you get. Also having a kid is a constant reminder of how fast life flies by. I literally look the same as I did two years ago but Ben is a completely different kid from just two years of difference. He's grown tall, has great vocabulary, he's agile and quick, yet he was barely able to talk or walk just a year ago. It's rather astonishing if you ask me how fast kids advance in their early years.

Our original plan was to celebrate Ben's birthday at Glacier National Park but since that didn't work out, it was decided to have a small birthday party at my mom's house. We enjoyed haystacks, watermelon and a cake that Traci made herself. Once again we had water balloons to help the guest cool down yet things escalated quickly as everyone took the opportunity to finish any unsettle differences. Ben simply enjoyed seeing the balloons pop on the ground but later became frightened when he witness the frenzy of water balloons flying through the air, along with all the screaming and laughing. Once we ran out of liquid ammunition, Ben opened his gifts and was quite literally overwhelmed at all the neat stuff he got such as a bubble lawnmower, hot wheels, clothes, a xylophone and even a T-Ball set. Definitely enough items to keep his imagination busy for a while.

It's a hard card to play as a parent when you don't want your kids to be spoiled yet you don't want them to miss out. I personally seem to toss any argument in my mind when I see fun toys for Ben. So after a small conversation with Traci, it was decided to invest on a John Deere pedal tractor for his Birthday. He was very excited to ride in the tractor although two months later he still can't reach the pedals. We still have to push him when he rides it and steer for him since he doesn't fully understand the concept of the steering wheel. It makes for good memories though... pretty good memories.
